Sony Corporation reveals the world’s first and largest 56-inch, 4K resolution OLED TV at CES 2013. This Ultra High Definition (3840 x 2160) OLED TV makes use of the latest “oxide semiconductor TFTs” and Sony’s own “Super Top Emission” technologies.

Currently, manufactures use low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) TFTs to force light through the OLED layer. It is difficult to produce large displays with LTPS TFTs. Sony overcomes this limitation by using oxide semiconductor TFTs and its proprietary Super Top Emission technology.

The aforementioned technologies deliver stunning visuals with high contrast and brightness. The huge 4K resolution display also has rapid video image response time and offers rich images even at wide viewing angles.

Sony has developed this OLED display in partnership with Taiwan’s AU Optronics Corporation. The company is silent on the pricing, availability and other specifications such as power consumption, contrast ratio and thickness.
