LG HECTO Laser TV Projector announced at CES 2013 has taken the display technology to the next level. The new Laser TV projector comes with a special screen and an external Ultra Short Throw (UST) projection unit, which is capable of creating a 100-inch display with a Short-throw distance of a mere 22 inches (approximately 56cm) from the screen. The projection unit can be installed near the floor or on the ceiling.
The device offers Full HD 1080p resolution and 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for a crisp and clear picture. It has a digital tuner and two 10W built-in stereo speakers, which are inlaid in the projection unit to deliver a virtual surround sound experience and amazing audio. There’s also a RS-232 optical audio output port that can be integrated with an external audio solution for a much better performance.
LG HECTO Laser TV has both Smart TV and Digital TV capabilities. It features built-in WiDi and Wi-Fi direct (Miracast) to share content from any compatible device with the TV. With LG’s Magic Remote, users can navigate using voice, gesture, point and wheel control modes. The company claims that the system can run for up to 25,000 hours without replacement.
There’s no word on pricing and availability of the device. However, it is expected to cost a possible, $10,000 at the time of launch.
