Since Firefox OS is developed using HTML5 and other open Web standards, it is compatible with any devices. Mozilla demonstrated a sneak preview of the software by running Firefox OS on Samsung Galaxy S II Smartphone instead of the Android OS.

In Firefox OS, HTML5 apps uses JavaScript to communicate with the hardware. This in turn requires minimum resource and increases the performance of the device with greater stability and speed.

It is easier to develop apps for Firefox OS as it is built entirely on open web standards. HTML5 apps can be easily ported to the Firefox OS.

Since the Firefox OS consume less resource, the hardware cost is drastically reduced. The Smartphones running Firefox OS will be much cheaper that the one running on other platforms.

Firefox OS is based on multi-layered security model. It minimizes the exploitation risks at every level itself and provides comprehensive protection against threats.

8.Open platform:
Like other Mozilla products, Firefox OS is an open platform. The codes are available in the public domain and anyone can contribute to its development.

Firefox OS is fully customizable. A user familiar with Linux and HTML5 can customize it to their requirement.
