Google delays its highly anticipated Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS in favor of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The Android Police has recently reported that it has seen Android 4.3 JWR23B on their server logs. The letter ‘J’ in the built number denotes that it is a Jelly Bean update.

Earlier it was rumored that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, the next version of the Android OS will be announced at Google I/O developer’s conference this month. But now sources point out that there will be a Jelly Bean update before the launch of Android 5.0 KLP.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS - Features

The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has reportedly leaked the features of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. In a Meetup posting, HTC has mentioned that it plans to discuss Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Open GL ES 3.0, which according to them has arrived for Android.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), also known as Bluetooth SMART is a wireless connectivity technology, which consumes less power and can operate continuously for months or years on a button cell. It is targeted towards the applications used in healthcare, fitness, security, and home entertainment sectors. OpenGL ES 3.0, on the other hand is the latest mobile graphics specifications which enhances the visual effects and improves the Texturing functionality.

The HTC event is scheduled on May 16, which apparently falls in the middle of the three days Google I/O developer’s conference - From May 15 to May 17 2013. So it is assumed the Google will announce its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update on the very first day of the conference and the new update is expected to feature both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Open GL ES 3.0 technologies.

It is also expected that Google may launch a new messaging service called Google Babel, which will integrate all the existing messaging services like Google Talk, Hangout, Voice chat and Messenger into one platform. TechRadar has reported that the new messaging platform Google Babel will be unveiled as Google Hangouts during Google I/O. Hopefully this new messaging service is included in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.

Google may also add some more interesting features to its Jelly Bean update. We will have to wait till Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS is made official at Google I/O meet.
