Nokia Debuts Android Based Nokia X, X+ and XL at MWC 2014

The MWC 2014 saw the first-ever Android based Smartphones manufactured by Nokia. At the event, the company has announced three new Smartphones - Nokia X, Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL. Based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), these Smartphones are powered by Microsoft and Nokia services.

Both Nokia X and Nokia X+ pack identical specifications except the RAM capacity. They flaunt a 4- inch IPS LCD touch screen with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels at 233 ppi. Internally, the Smartphones are powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and has 4GB on internal storage with up to 32GB MicroSD support.

In terms of RAM capacity, Nokia X has 512 MB of RAM and the Nokia X+ comes with a 768 MB of RAM. Rounding the specs, both the Smartphones have a 3MP fixed focus camera with no flash, 3G connectivity, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 3.0 + HS, USB 2.0, 3.5 mm audio jack, A-GPS support and a 1500 mAh battery.



Nokia XL shares the same specs as its younger brother, but packs a 5-inch WVGA IPS LCD screen, 5MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, 2MP HD front-facing camera, 768MB RAM and a 2000mAh battery.

All devices can run Android apps, but has no access to Google's Play Store. However, Nokia offers free access to Here Maps, free cloud storage from Microsoft's OneDrive, navigation, and Nokia MixRadio service.

Nokia X will hit stores immediately for $122 (90 euros). The Nokia X+ and Nokia XL will go on sale in the second quarter for $136 (100 euros) and $150 (110 euros) respectively. The devices will be available in vibrant colors like, bright green, bright red, Orange, cyan, yellow, black and white.
