Samsung, the consumer electronics giant has announced a new range of LED lamp solutions, called the Smart Bulbs. Unlike traditional Wi-Fi controllable LED lighting, it utilizes Bluetooth technology and doesn't require bridge, wireless AP, or any other additional equipment to administer it. Using an application, users can control up to 64 Smart Bulbs from their Smartphones or tablet PC.
“Based on our extensive experience with semiconductor and LED technology, as well as our knowledge of the appliances industry, we are in a unique position to deliver exciting smart solutions for the LED Lighting industry,” said Hee-Chong Yoon, Vice President of Samsung LED Lamp Marketing unit.
The Smart Bulb can be dimmed down to 10 percent brightness and is CCT (correlated color temperature) tunable from 2700K (warm white) to 6500K (cool white). It has a lifetime 15,000 hours and will last for approximately 10 years with 4-hour use per day. Samsung also offers centralized management of Smart Bulb with a ZigBee radio for business owners.
Samsung will premiere the Smart Bulb along with other lamp solutions at the Light + Building 2014 trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, from March 30th to April 4th 2014. Pricing and availability details are yet to be revealed.
