Dell unveils Latitude 12 and 14 Rugged Extreme Laptops for toughconditions

Dell has unveiled the Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme, the world's first fully rugged convertible laptop that can flatten into a tablet. Alongside the laptop-tablet hybrid, the company has also launched the Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme notebook. Both the devices are intended to operate in all extreme conditions.

The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme sports a rugged “flip-hinge” convertible display that rotates within its frame and transforms into a tablet. Both the Latitude 12 and 14 Rugged Extreme are made from impact-resistant ultra-polymers and sturdy magnesium alloy. The fourth-generation QuadCool thermal management enables high temperature performance, while the data protection is taken care by sealed doors and compression gaskets.

The Dell Latitude 12 and 14 Rugged Extreme features a 11.6-inch and a 14-inch resistive multi-touch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels respectively. The devices packs a fourth generation Intel i3/i5/i7 dual-core processor and supports up to 16GB DDR3L RAM and up to 512 GB of solid state storage. The have an array of connectivity options, which includes 4G-LTE (Optional), HSPA+, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI and GPS. Under the hood, you can run Windows 7, Windows 8 or Ubuntu.

The Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme convertible notebook carries a price tag starting at $3,649, while the Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme begins at $3,499. Both the device will be available from May this year.
