Finally Google has announced the next big update to its Android platform - the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The new update comes with many new features and with over 5,000 new APIs for developers.
The most notable feature in Android 5.0 Lollipop is the Material Design, which carries a bold, colorful, and responsive UI design. The interface comes with more fluid animations and offers a smoother and more consistent user experience across the devices.
The next big change is the way you get to see the notifications. Android 5.0 Lollipop gets a new lock screen with notifications and allow users to respond to messages directly from the lock screen. The new update allows users to set preferences for notifications like Priority mode and scheduled downtime. Users can also enjoy videos and games without being interrupted by incoming calls.
Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with a battery saver feature that can extend the device use by up to 90 minutes. The battery settings also displays the estimated time left to fully charge the device and the estimated time left to drain the juice completely.
The new update features an entirely new Android runtime (ART) with improved application performance and responsiveness. It also offers a faster, smoother and more powerful computing experience. There's also support for 64-bit devices, which brings desktop class CPUs to Android.
Android 5.0 Lollipop offers improved security feature called Factory Reset Protection. The new security feature requires Users to enter Google password to wipe out device's data. Other security features are user data encryption, SELinux enforcing and Android Smart Lock for trusted device pairing.
Google has finally introduced device sharing feature in its new update. Android 5.0 Lollipop allows multiple users for a device. Users can access their phone contents, contacts, messages etc from any Android Lollipop running devices by simply logging in with their Google account. It also restricts others from accessing your sensitive contents.
Instant Device set up
Android 5.0 Lollipop allows users to set up their new device instantly by just tapping it on their old device with NFC. It brings all the apps from Google Play automatically from any of your old Android devices to the new device with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Google also brings in many other features in its new Android 5.0 Lollipop apart from the above.
