Micromax, the Indian budget Smartphone maker, has launched a new online-only Smartphone brand - Yu. Micromax has partnered with Cyanogen Inc., the makers of Cyanogen Mod ROMs, for the new Yu brand. The Yu Televentures will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Micromax Informatics. The Yu brand Smartphones will run on custom Android OS coming from CyanogenMod.

Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma told at the launch event.
CyanogenMod offers a number of customization with a lot more privacy. Users can customize the user interface to suit their needs.

Micromax will launch the first Yu brand Smartphone in December. The company is in discussions with leading online retailers for the roll out. The price range and specs of the device are not yet disclosed.
